Mission Director Saji John Visits Gava Estate, Wajidpur

State Horticulture Mission Director and State Agricultural Price Board, Kerala, Saji Jan, visited Guava Estate, Wajidpur, on Wednesday and met with the technical team to gain detailed information about the horticulture schemes being implemented there and the facilities being provided to farmers.

Saji Jan learned about the facilities available at the estate, such as providing machinery for rent at reasonable rates, providing high-quality guava plants to farmers, technical assistance for establishing new orchards, providing fruit fly traps for fruit fly control, and connecting new farmers with Khagwani.

He also visited the polyclinic lab operating at the estate and received detailed information about the soil and water testing process from the lab attendant, Simran.

In addition, he inspected the stalls set up by the State Department and progressive farmers promoting organic farming.

These stalls displayed organic vegetables, fruits, fertilizers, and other products. During the visit, Jan also visited the University Agricultural Tissue Culture Unit located in village Munh Khed. Unit in-charges Ashwani Singla and Parvinder Singh provided detailed information about the hydroponic method used for potato production.

Dr. Harpreet Singh Sethi (Deputy Director, Horticulture, Mohali), Dr. Harinderpal Singh (Horticulture Development Officer, Guava Estate, Wajidpur), Dr. Dilpreet Singh (Mission Secretary, NHM, Patiala), Dr. Navneet Kaur (Horticulture Development Officer, Government Owned Lab, Patiala), Gurdayal Singh of the Horticulture Department, and Gagandeep Vaid (Horticulture Sub-Inspector) were also present.
